Do I need a fishing license or permit to fish here?
Almost everyone who fishes in Florida is required to have a fishing license. Florida has separate saltwater and freshwater fishing licenses.

A fishing license is required to attempt to take fish. If you cast your line, catch nothing, catch and release, or catch and keep. A saltwater fishing license is also required to attempt to take any native or nonnative marine organisms, such as crabs, lobsters, and marine plants.
If you are fishing from land, on shore, bridge, pier or a jetty, age 16 or older, you must have a fishing license.
If you are fishing from a boat, age 16 or older, you must have a fishing license.
If you bring your own boat, you will need your own fishing license.
If you are a are a non-resident fishing from land, boat, bridge, or pier, you will need to obtain a Florida fishing license.
Non resident (Visitors) can purchase a 3 or 7 Day Fishing license.
Florida resident can purchase a annual Fishing license.

Licensed charter boat Captains carry a license for their passengers, so anglers are covered. and no license is required.
